Q: Which Bible translation does Deep Sea Adventure use?

A: New International Version is the primary source. There is a Reveal-a-Verse Bible memory verse for Session 5 that is from the nirv (New International Reader’s Version). We chose this version because we felt it said it in the simplest language for use with children.

Q: What is the daily L.I.F.E. (Live It Faithfully Everyday) Challenge?

A: The practical application of the day's Bible lesson. Each day has a corresponding practical application of how kids can bring what they've learned home. A great way to teach kids how to share Jesus with others.

Q: Do I have to use Deep Sea Adventure for a one-week traditional Vacation Bible School event, or can I use it for Sunday mornings?

A: Deep Sea Adventure is designed to be used in five sessions. However, it is flexible enough for you to use these five sessions in a variety of formats. These include as a summer program for mid-week (on five Wednesdays) or as a five Sunday program. You may also choose to use the different sites and customize a summer program.

Q: Do I have to use crafts suggested in the Coral Crafts Elementary Crafts & Community Service Leader’s Guide?

A: There is not anything in Deep Sea Adventure that you are absolutely required to use! However we have tried out each craft and feel they will be fun and creative for your VBS experience. Of course, there are two options for each day; the first is the main theme related craft, and the second is a Community Service Project option. You may also use additional crafts to those listed in the program. We have chosen not to provide craft skits as these can be an expensive option for churches. If you are interested in theme-related craft kits, we recommend that you check online at hobby, craft, and educational resource sites.

Q: Can I return leftover VBS materials for credit?

A: You may return the elementary and early childhood Student Books and the Reveal-a-Verse Puzzle Cube with your invoice within 14 days of the closing of your VBS. Please be sure to order ample supply of these student resource items. All other VBS materials are NOT returnable.

Q: Do I have to use the four DVDs provided in the Starter Kit?

A: No, these DVD resources are provided for you to make your planning easier. They are quick and easy to use. However there are other options. The scripts for the elementary drama skits are included in the Dive Zone Elementary Opening & Closing Leader’s Guide. The elementary Bible stories are in the Navigation Station Elementary Bible Stories Leader’s Guide. There is a music CD, and the music scores in the Sound Waves Elementary & Early Childhood Music Leader’s Guide. The resources for early childhood are also provided in the Sid & Simon’s Deep Sea Adventure Director’s Guide. The DVD does give you the option of using multi media in your VBS program. It is recommended that you use the DVD resource available to you. The kids will love watching the daily skits and the many other fun features on the DVD.

Q: Does our church need to buy student books?

A: We strongly recommend that you purchase a student book for each child in early childhood and elementary. The early childhood book, Sid & Simon’s Deep Sea Adventure, has daily activity sheets for children to complete and take home, as well as reminders to reinforce the daily Destination Point (Life Point) and Treasure Truth (Bible truth), a welcome and thank-you note for families, and a Bible verse reminder activity. The elementary book is designed for interactive Bible fun at VBS and a take-home Reveal-a-Verse Bible memory mini-poster for each session. The five daily posters are mini versions of the large Bible memory posters they will see at VBS and are perfectly sized to use at home. Remember, whether they use these activity book sheets during the program, or as take-homes, it’s yet another way to help your divers learn and remember what Deep Sea Adventure has taught them. Check out these two books (free in your starter kit) and we are sure you’ll agree they are a great value to connect VBS with the home!

Q: Is the Sound Waves Music CD (Stereo & Split Tracks) reproducible?

A: Yes, this item is fully reproducible! A great way to reward pre-registration and welcome new registrants to your VBS is to give them their own copy of the great Sound Waves songs for home.
