Dear Colleagues, Welcome to the "new" Preacher's Magazine! Of course this tool has been around a long time (since 1926), but we think you'll agree that it is indeed "new." We hope it's helpful to you in your everyday practice of ministry. As you can see, Preacher's Magazine has undergone major remodeling. We have consulted with several key denominational leaders, pastors, and the folks at Nazarene Publishing House to get a fresh feel for the kind of magazine that would be most helpful to today's Nazarene clergy. The focus of the magazine is narrower than in the past. We will focus each issue on the specific pastoral task of preaching. Our mission is to help pastors be better preachers. It's our belief that one of the primary contributions of pastors to their congregation is to preach the Word of God in ways that are faithful to the text and faithful to the people. With that firm conviction, it is our desire to provide Nazarene preachers with more than "fish to fry" every week-but over the process of time also to be a resource to teach preachers "how to fish." In other words, rather than always providing the finished product of a sermon, to walk through the steps of how a sermon comes together from start to finish. We think the staff at NPH has done a great job modernizing the graphics and layout, but we are especially hopeful that you appreciate the new content as it helps you to be an effective preacher. Most of all, we want to be a source of help and blessing to every pastor who feels overwhelmed with the daunting task of getting ready to preach every Sunday. We understand that pressure and face it every week ourselves. We also know the joy and reward of having given our very best to preaching well. We have many things that compete for our attention but none is better than faithfully proclaiming the Word of God to our people week after week. Keep in mind that this is a process for us. Be patient with us, and give us your feedback. We want this to be a meaningful resource, and establishing a "dialogue" will really help us to do that.
