One Heart-Many Hands to sponsor General Assembly mission project

As Christians, we are called to be salt and light in our world, and it takes each one of us, offering our hands in service, to accomplish this mission set before us by Jesus Christ. It is the foundation on which the Church of the Nazarene was built, and the mission that keeps the church growing and reaching out.

On June 21-26, 2009, many will gather in Orlando, Florida, to be a part of a large-scale Work and Witness project involving hands-on ministry in the inner city of Orlando, sponsored by One Heart-Many Hands (OHMH).

This project needs the hands of church groups of any age and size, Work and Witness teams, youth groups, university groups, retired professionals, and of course individuals with willing hands.

The project will begin just days prior to the 27th General Assembly. It will begin with a commissioning service and celebration for all participants on Sunday evening, June 21, and conclude on Friday, June 26.

"By design every event sponsored by our General Church is accompanied by a service project," explains Nazarene General Editor David J. Felter. "Why? Because we believe that wherever we go, whatever venue is selected for meetings or conferences, we should leave the fingerprints of Jesus Christ. Through One Heart Many Hands we tap the reservoirs of compassion within the heart of our church through volunteers, service, and ministry."

The OHMH event costs $185.00 per person before March 31, 2009, then $215.00 after April 01, 2009. Registration includes box lunches while on the job site, T-shirt, program expenses, identification required by local law enforcement, insurance fees, special events, and scholarships for international delegates.

All registration fees are transferable but nonrefundable. Participants must be registered prior to arrival. All participants 18 and under must be registered with a team; participants 13 and under must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

This project is being organized by the Church of the Nazarene and is approved for 10 percent missions giving credit.
