Duarte sends farewell to Africa Region
Africa Region
Friday, July 31, 2009
(As printed in the Africa Region's newsletter, Out of Africa)
Dear Brother, Sister, and Co-Worker in the Lord:
I am taking the opportunity of this communication to express my gratitude for your prayers and support during this time of transition. Maria Teresa and I want you to know that we accepted our new assignment with mixed feelings - while the thought of leaving Africa is extremely difficult for us, we do so because we know it is in God's plan.
My hope and prayer is that we can continue to enjoy the good friendships we have had until now and if there is any way that I can be of service to you, I would be glad to serve you.
I do not know yet who my successor will be, but I want to assure you that we will be in prayer with you and with the leadership of the Church throughout the process. I want to remind you of Dr. Louie Bustle's announcement at the Africa Regional Caucus meeting in Orlando for every missionary and district superintendent on the Africa Region to feel free to submit names for consideration. I want to encourage you to do this as soon as possible.
I trust the Lord to lead His Church in Africa especially in these coming days.
Yours in Him,
Eugénio Duarte
